When a local woman brings a mysterious painting into widower Mark Lewis’s small art gallery, she tells him it was done by a seventeen-year-old boy with cerebral palsy. Mark, however, thinks the style looks eerily similar to that of prominent Australian artist James Devlin.

In his quest to determine the painting’s true creator, Mark is caught up in a world of fraud, lies and family secrets. Helping him is the beautiful and smart Linda de Vries, which presents Mark with another puzzle to solve: is he ready for a new relationship so soon after the death of his wife?

What at first may seem like a gentle yet engaging story reveals itself to be so much more. Levitt has crafted a novel that subtly explores the themes of grief and love, while keeping the reader gripped in the mystery of the painting (and life) at every turn of the page.
