To submit an event to the Writing WA website you will need to be a member (Basic, Associate, Literati or Corporate).
We have four types of membership:
- Corporate membership – available to organisations
- Literati membership – available to individual writing sector practitioners
- Associate membership – available to anyone
- Basic membership – available to anyone
Corporate membership – for organisations
As a corporate member of Writing WA you are participating in and contributing to our state’s literary culture. Your membership will help to ensure that Writing WA can continue to support and advocate for you and the literary community in which we all operate. Membership will also provide your organisation with these additional benefits:
- Access to Members Only content on this website.
- Premium opportunities to participate in Writing WA programs and services such as Love to Read Local Week.
- Priority promotion of your events, services, publications and access to create and post articles and events to the Noticeboard.
- Free Perth CBD book launch venue and support.
- Free and subsidised opportunities for personalised support from Writing WA team member through consultancy, partnership and event delivery.
- Discounted rates for display advertising in Writing WA’s communications products.
- Discounted rates for Writing WA programs.
- Priority booking for Writing WA events.
- Voting rights at the Writing WA AGM.
- For bookshop members – the opportunity to be included in the Literary Map of Western Australia.
Literati membership – for individual practitioners
The Literati database is a platform for individual writers, illustrators, editors and book designers resident in Western Australia wanting to promote their publications and professional services to the marketplace. It is a searchable database that can be accessed nationally by publishers, festival directors, librarians, writers centres, schools and others who may be seeking your services.
To register in Literati you will need to have achieved one or more of the following:
- Publication – in any genre, with at least one full length work or three short works currently available; and/or
- Accreditation with Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd); and/or demonstrated experience as a manuscript assessor; and/or
- Demonstrated experience as a workshop facilitator, writing tutor or mentor.
What are the benefits of becoming a Literati Member?
– Be featured on WA’s largest literary database of creatives, allowing you to create and maintain a comprehensive professional profile. This profile, which can include images and multi-media links, will be actively promoted by Writing WA to publishers, festival directors, librarians, schools, writers centres, and other key stakeholders across Australia.
– Your new publications will be considered for features in the Love to Read Local newsletter, including reviews, team picks, or ‘what’s new’ highlights.
– Enjoy all-inclusive book launch services for your new publications, including venue hire at the State Library of WA, light refreshments, an MC, ticketing, marketing materials, and promotion through our website, newsletter, and social media channels.*
– An opportunity to be interviewed on the Writing WA Podstreet Podcast.*
– An opportunity to be video interviewed on the Writing WA Substack.*

Associate membership
Unlike the Literati and Corporate tiers of membership, an Associate Membership is open to any individual in the community who wants to engage with Writing WA, our services, and to promote writing-related events to our audience.
In addition to the free weekly newsletter offered to all Writing WA subscribers, Associate Members will also get:
- Access to create articles and events for the Noticeboard
- Member prices to Writing WA-run workshops, events and services
- Free entry to select Writing WA-run writing competitions
- The ability to apply for the free book-launch service at the State Library of Western Australia (limited placements available each year)
- Invitations to selected book launches and sector round-table discussions
- A free consultation with a member of Writing WA staff to discuss your writing ambitions and pathways

Basic membership is free and enables you to create articles and events for posting to the Noticeboard.
