CEO - Sharon Flindell
Sharon Flindell has worked across cultural industries - both in Australia and internationally - for more than thirty years, working with many exceptional artists including Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Michael Nyman and Robert Lepage. As a London-based independent producer some key projects included producing and programming Hungary's first international contemporary arts festival of the post-communist era; producing the interdisciplinary work Dinner (Director, Jonathan Stone) as an international co-production with Spoleto Festival Charleston, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival USA and Glasgow City of Culture; and the sell-out West End run of the Schiller Theater (Berlin) production of Macbeth. She has been the CEO of writingWA since 2005.
Projects and Communications Officer - Deidre Robb
Deidre Robb’s background is in the library and contemporary craft/design sectors. Since moving to WA from NZ nine years ago, the main emphasis of her work has been in project management and event management. She has worked to a diverse range of briefs including 'celebrate the anniversary of the State library', ‘design and deliver a National Year of Reading program’, 'create new opportunities for local artists and artisans to promote and sell their work', and ‘improve civic pride’. Her volunteer roles include being an Artistic Director for an arts, culture, heritage and education organization and a gallery attendant/assistant.
Digital Content Management - Melinda Tognini
Melinda Tognini has more than 20 years’ experience in teaching, mentoring and facilitating workshops for writers of all ages and levels. Melinda’s feature articles, travel writing, and personal essays have appeared in magazines and anthologies in Australia and the US. Her book, Many Hearts, One Voice: the story of the War Widows’ Guild in Western Australia was published in 2015.
When she’s not adding events and writing opportunities to Writing WA’s website, she can be found working on various writing projects, including an historical fiction for younger readers, mentoring young people through charity 12 Buckets, or being a taxi driver for her two teenage children.
