Seesaw Magazine: Expressions of Interest – Free arts reviewing mentorships

If you are an emerging writer based in regional Western Australia, Seesaw Magazine would love to help improve your skills as they seek to develop arts reviewing and writing across our State.

Seesaw, WA’s arts magazine, is offering writers from regional WA a free mentorship program to learn arts reviewing, create writing opportunities and promote arts events around WA.

The mentoring will be provided by Seesaw board member Stephen Bevis, a former Arts Editor at The West Australian newspaper whose career spans journalism, arts reviewing, communications and PR.

Training will include workshops and attending at least one event for a mentored review. Coverage will be aligned with locally-produced regional arts events as well as touring shows to regional venues. Participation is free and mentees will be paid a small fee for taking part.

There are two ways you can register your interest. Please email [email protected] with a short reason why you’d like to take part (up to 100 words), a couple of examples of your writing and a CV if you have one. Or fill out this form here and Stephen will be in touch: https://forms.gle/oiipZGcJqr2BzWUo6

Deadline for applications is Friday July 12. Training will run late-July to mid-September at times agreed with the successful applicants (up to about 15 hours in total).

This program is supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
