The Peppermint Grove Retreat offers WA emerging and established authors and illustrators of Children’s and Young Adult books an opportunity to escape their daily lives to focus on creating for a maximum period of two weeks between 4-17 January 2026.

About the Retreat

Roderick House at 37 Leake St Peppermint Grove was built in 1897 and has recently been lovingly restored to its former glory with modern features including internet access and reverse-cycle air conditioning.
With support from the Children’s Book Council of Australia WA Branch and the owner and host, who will be in residence and available to assist if required, Peppermint Grove Retreat is offered free of charge to successful applicants. Regional creatives may apply to receive a contribution towards travel expenses.

Requirements

• write an article for the CBCA WA newsletter or post to CBCA WA Facebook or Instagram
• present a talk about your experiences to a group of adults on Saturday 17 January
• preparedness to leave the kitchen tidy and to be rostered to cook evening meals
