Summary

After working for several decades in journalism and other forms of professional writing, in 2009 Marcia decided to try her hand at fiction writing through Curtin University's creative writing doctorate program. Since completing her degree she has taught professional and creative writing units at Curtin and also works as a freelance editor and manuscript assessor. Marcia's new novel will be published by Ventura Press in 2025.

Biography

Born in Canada, Marcia completed a BA at the University of Toronto before landing a job in television production. She arrived in Perth, Western Australia in the 1980s and embarked on a long career in journalism and professional writing. After many years dedicated to writing for her employers and clients, Marcia decided she had a story or two of her own to tell. She completed her first novel as a component of her PhD thesis completed through Curtin University’s School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry and continues her affiliation with Curtin as a sessional academic. Marcia continues to work as a freelance editor and is a professional member of the Institute of Professional Editors WA.
