Kristy Nita Brown is an author and creative entrepreneur passionate about storytelling and education. Her debut book Looking for Lily was shortlisted for the 2023 WAYRBA, and The Hole Truth won the 2025 CYA Competition (Published category). She was also the 2025 Love to Read Local Month Children’s Writer-in-Residence. Founder of the Book Builders Challenge, Kristy supports young writers in schools. She holds degrees in Education and Media Studies and teaches, writes for Magpies Magazine, and runs creative workshops.
Biography
Kristy Nita Brown is an author and creative entrepreneur passionate about storytelling and education. She independently publishes her work, with her debut chapter book Looking for Lily shortlisted for the 2023 WA Young Readers’ Book Award. Her Mavey and Beth’s Double Act series has been featured at major events, with The Hole Truth winning the 2025 Children and Young Adult Aspiring Author Competition (Published category). In the same year, Kristy was awarded the Love to Read Local Month Children’s Writer-in-Residency for an unpublished middle-grade manuscript. She is the founder of Book Builders Challenge, a school-based program supported by Creativity for Schools grants, which helps hundreds of students write and publish their own books. Holding degrees in Education and Media Studies, Kristy brings broad experience from teaching, film, and the music industry. She contributes to Magpies Magazine, lectures at TAFE, and regularly delivers creative writing workshops in schools and libraries.
