Dr Glen Phillips is a poet and professor, born 1936 in Southern Cross, Western Australia. He has taught all his working life (incl. 53 years at ECU) and is internationally published, with some 40 books, 10 short stories and hundreds of poems. Director of Edith Cowan University’s International Centre for Landscape and Language, his books include “Gold in Granite”, a bi-lingual poetry collection translated by Han Zhulin (Harbin, 2014), “Alpi e Prati: Poems of Italy” (ICLL, 2014) and “Winged Seed Songs: Poetry in Musical Forms”,(ICLL, 2014).
Biography
Dr Glen Phillips is a founding executive member, PEN Perth, WritingWA, Peter Cowan Writers Centre and is founder and Patron of the KSP Writers Centre. He led ‘Poetry in Motion’, a group of poets performing internationally in the 1980s. He has been FAW President and co-editor of three FAW anthologies and one for KSP. He was a guest author at the 2019 Perth Festival Writers Week to release his Collected Poems 1968-2018—In the Hollow of the Land. Recently he has held two State exhibitions of his landscape paintings and featured as guest poet at the 2023 York Literary Festival. His exhibition of landscapes was held in Shanghai in 2023. He has also written and published poems in Italian and Chinese and more than 60 books of his poetry and stories in English.

Professor Glen Phillips. Born in Southern Cross (WA), Glen has taught English at Edith Cowan University and antecedents for some 55 years including serving as founding Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences on Mt Lawley Campus. He has been an Australian Society of Authors member and a Fellow of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (WA) since 1969 and is a life member of the FAW, KSP Foundation and Peter Cowan Writers Centre. In 2017 he received a State Government Community Award for 32 years’ volunteer service to the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre. He is Founding Director of ECU’s International Centre for Landscape and Language. Glen is represented in over 30 anthologies world-wide and has edited or published more than 60 books or chapbooks. His poems have won prizes and been translated into several languages. Of 45+ collections of his verse, eight are bi-lingual, being published in China and Italy. He has performed his poetry in USA, Britain, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, India, Thailand, Singapore and China. He has also read his poems on Australian television and radio (including ABC’s Poetica). Graduate studies of his poetry have been undertaken in China, India and Australia. In 2015-20 he published 20 new poetry books.
