Biography

Alex offers professional writing services through her consultancy, Writilin.

Her former work as a Humanities teacher shaped her ability to analyse complex information, draw out key points, and communicate them a clear, audience appropriate way. After leaving the classroom, Alex joined the Learning and Creativity team at the WA Museum, where she was responsible for the development of diverse education and engagement programs for audiences ranging from kindy age to adult. This experience prompted her to write two children’s books exploring Western Australian history. She wrote magazine articles for several publications across Australia, and worked at Seven West Media, developing student and teacher-oriented content for The West Australian and The Sunday Times. Alex also worked in the advocacy space within the not-for-profit sector, producing newsletters, submissions and campaign resources. Within this role, she honed her skills around sensitively recording and telling the stories of people struggling with poverty, homelessness, family violence and other forms of disadvantage.

Alex is an engaging public speaker who has shared her knowledge at numerous conferences, professional learning workshops, community education sessions and outreach events. She can adapt her tone, style and content to suit the audience needs. Whether engaged as an advocate, educator, or a writer, she is passionate about helping audiences become reflective, critical and creative thinkers.
