Inkling: Paid Playwrights Program

Inkling is a five-week, paid writers program for up to six playwrights.

It offers playwrights time and space to explore a new piece. The playwrights will work on a new play that will culminate in a taster reading at the festival in November.

Inkling includes:

  • A weekly stipend of $750 for five weeks (total of $3750 each).

  • Sessions led by our festival team with additional support by dramaturg of your choosing.

  • Script workshop with actors in the final week (Nov 4th-8th).

  • An excerpt of each piece being staged during the festival.

Eligibility:

  • Playwrights can be at any stage of their career but must have written and had produced one full length play (including professional, independent, and fringe).

  • Based in WA (Regional playwrights are encouraged to apply, as long as they can be in Perth, Nov 5th-9th. See our Regional Playwrights Fund for information travel support).

  • Available for sessions during October and the first week of November.
