Writing WA Announces Resignation of Melinda Tognini

It is with deep sadness that we announce the departure of our Digital Communications Officer, Melinda Tognini, after five dedicated years in the role.

Melinda has decided to step down to commit more time to her PhD in Creative Writing at Curtin University. She will continue to provide mentoring and lead workshops for aspiring writers.

‘It’s been a privilege to be a part of an incredible team and contribute in some small way to the writing community over the past 5 years. I may be stepping down from this role, but I’ll still be turning up to support workshops, launches and other events by Writing WA and fellow West Aussie creators.’ Melinda says.

Writing WA CEO, Will Yeoman says, ‘Since joining Writing WA as CEO last year, I’ve found Melinda to be a wise and reliable presence, disproportionate by far to her official hours spent working on our website content and weekly newsletter. In all her dealings not just with Writing WA members but with others within WA’s writing community, she has been conscientious, patient and, where required, compassionate. One could want nothing more from a colleague, and while she will be sorely missed it’s comforting to know she’ll always be an active and enthusiastic part of the Writing WA family.’

We thank Melinda for her commitment to, and support of, Writing WA and the broader WA writing community, and we wish her great success in all her future endeavours.

Melinda’s resignation will take effect on 19 August 2024.
