Update on the Future of UWA Publishing

The future of UWA Publishing is set to be as a ‘contemporary hybrid publisher’ according to a statement released late last week.

UWA’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Amit Chamkma has announced that ‘some titles will be traditionally published while others will be published through open access’, with plans to publish ‘more scholarly and non-fiction works which profile and share UWA’s research and academic strengths’.

‘We will continue to produce literary works which share local West Australian stories, history and Indigenous voices.’ says Professor Chakma.

UWAP’s current commitments include a number of titles contracted for publication in 2021.

Manuscript submissions will reopen early in the new year with updated guidelines for authors about content and genre focus.
