Writing WA’s Short Story Showcase is proudly founded and managed by autistic employee Shannon Britza, and a neurodivergent team led the selection process for this activation. The panel shared:
‘It was a sincere joy and privilege to read all 25 submissions for this initiative. As the adage says, “If you’ve met one autistic person, then you’ve met one autistic person.” These ten stories beautifully reflect that sentiment, showcasing a vast range of experiences. So, get ready to pop on your spectrum sunglasses and immerse yourself in the neurosparkly universe of these stories in April 2025!’
The Showcase is a key part of Changing the Conversation: Stories in All Spaces, a groundbreaking 2024–25 cross-disciplinary project supported by the WA Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. This initiative pushes the boundaries of literature, fosters creative connections across disciplines, and offers immersive storytelling experiences that challenge traditional perspectives on writing and storytelling.
We can’t wait to share these powerful stories with you!
