We are thrilled to celebrate Writing WA Board Member Rachel Bin Salleh, who has been recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) 2025 for her outstanding contributions to First Nations literature.
Magabala Books, Australia’s largest Indigenous publishing house, has published over 270 of her books, each one bearing Ms. Bin Salleh’s dedicated touch over the past 20 years.
A passionate writer and publisher of Indigenous literature, Rachel has uplifted First Nations voices, leaving an incredible impact on the literary and creative landscape. Her work has not only inspired countless individuals but has also helped foster a richer, more diverse storytelling culture.
Ms Bin Salleh was chosen from more than 70 West Australians and acknowledged for her outstanding community contributions.
We couldn’t be prouder to have such an inspiring leader on our Board.
