Tangea Tansley

Summary

Tangea Tansley is an award-winning writer of three historical novels, three works of non-fiction and a collection of story and memoir. Born in Zimbabwe, she lived and worked around the world before settling in Perth over three decades ago. Her professional background lies in editing, publishing, journalism, public relations and university tutoring/lecturing in literature at Murdoch and Notre Dame Universities. She has a PhD from Murdoch in cross-cultural literature.

Biography

Her books include A Question of Belonging, the critically acclaimed A Break in the Chain (longlisted: One Australia Reading), Out of Place (shortlisted: Penguin-Varuna unpublished manuscript), the hybrid collection of story/memoir Perspectives and several works of non-fiction. Her short stories and essays have been published, broadcast and anthologised and have appeared in literary journals Griffith Review, Island and the International Journal of the Humanities. She was winner of the Society of Women Writers’ Launceston Literary Award, joint-winner of the Todhunter Literary Award with further stories honoured in other national awards. She has presented at Writers’ Festivals in Melbourne and Perth.
