Helen Hagemann writes poetry and fiction. Her work is published in Australian literary journals, including Southerly, Westerly, Overland, Cordite & Famous Reporter. Her poetry is published online, internationally in a Chinese publication, Ashbery Mode (Tinfish, Hawaii 2019), and her latest poetry can be found on Phillip Hall’s “Burrow” - an online journal. Two novels have been published in New York USA and her third, "The Five Lives of Ms Bennett" is the result of her Masters in Writing at ECU & published by Oz.one Publishing. Her latest work is "Bounty": Prose Poetry published by Oz.one Publishing, 2024.

Biography

Helen has taught creative writing (fiction) and poetry at the Fremantle Arts Centre in association with OOTA (Out of the Asylum Writers Inc.) In 2004, she received a poetry mentorship award from the ASA studying with Jean Kent. In 2008, she won a Macquarie/Varuna Longlines Poetry scholarship. resulting in the publication of "Evangelyne & Other Poems" (2009). "of Arc & Shadow" was published by Sunline Press, (2013). Her novels "The Last Asbestos Town" and “The Ozone Cafe” originally published in New York are now 2nd editions, 2023. She has just released a new prose poetry collection titled Bounty, published by Oz.one Publishing 2024.

Invited author to the York Writers Festival, 18-19th March 2023, and joining a local York writer Karina McRoberts on a Saturday panel to discuss "taking our writing to strange places."
Accepted into the KSP's Fellowship Program 2022 for two weeks in October working on a new novel titled "The Tattooed City". The residency will include a conducted 2 hour workshop titled "Why not Turn to Crime".
Accepted into a writing residency at Eramboo Artist Environment, Terrey Hills. NSW for three weeks during May - June 2022. Helen worked on her new novel The Tattooed City - a domestic noir/crime novel set in Perth WA.
