Summary
Currently I have two children's books published, Gregory the Greedy Duck and Gregory and the Bully.
Gregory the Greedy Duck is about a duckling who loves eating leftover chips. This has a negative impact when one day he eats so many he cannot fly and must walk home.
Gregory and the Bully is still about Gregory, who has problems with a magpie who is bullying him in the park.
Both stories deal with common issues that kids face each day and how to build resilience through the stories.
Biography
I started reading at a very young age and started writing stories in primary school. I wrote a descriptive passage about a jungle that my year 7 teacher loved, and he told me that I would be writer when I grew up. My children were born in the 1980s and I always read to them before bed, but I was not particularly impressed with the books available to children. I then thought I should be writing books for children, but life got in the way. It was not until I was in my fifties that I was driving home from work when a duck almost flew into my car. Within weeks my brain contemplated the idea of why a duck would be flying so low and I sat down and wrote Gregory the Greedy Duck. A sequel emerged and it was also about Gregory but this time he was dealing with a magpie who was bullying him in the park. I have other ideas for Gregory but I am now working on a fictional novel. In my teenage years I read Erich von Daniken and became fascinated with myths around the world. I have been writing this story for over 20 years and am now almost finished the first draft. I showed my friend the first draft and she encouraged me to finish the story so I am pushing myself to finish this in 2025.
