Writing WA has been pursuing strong relationships with writing and publishing communities throughout South-East Asia since 2010. During this time we have enabled nearly 60 Western Australian writers and illustrators to participate in major regional festivals such as the Asian Festival of Children’s Content and the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival.
Our work in the region has also resulted in the commissioning and publication of two anthologies of short fiction. Collectively these publications feature the works of 17 Singaporean and 17 Western Australian writers.
In 2019 we will be expanding our international focus to create a new festival for Western Australia. In partnership with Teamwork Arts India, producers of the Jaipur Literature Festival – the largest literary event in the world – and the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, we will be launching the Confluence Festival of Indian Arts in Mandurah. The centre piece of this multi-arts festival will be a two day literary program.
Writing WA is proud to be creating the conditions in which leading international cultural brands such as Teamwork Arts India can establish their presence in Western Australia.
We welcome interest in our international programs from the private and corporate sectors. If you would like to discuss a potential alignment with one of our programs, please contact Writing WA’s CEO, Sharon Flindell, T. +61 (0)8 9228 9908 or E ceo[at]writingwa.org
