WA Stories Bicentenary Survey

The Centre for Stories invites you to complete a short survey that will help the DLGSC support projects that focus on WA storytelling and truth-telling in the lead up to the state’s Bicentenary.

WA Stories should support the publication, exhibition or exposé of works that encapsulate ideas of WA identity, place, home, history, culture and belonging. It aims to:

  • Unearth lesser-known WA histories and stories
  • Recognise Aboriginal people’s contributions to WA’s culture and history
  • Showcase diversity and difference within contemporary WA
  • Engage with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Celebrate unknown achievements and narratives
  • Diversify the mediums of the ways stories are told
  • Innovate the ways audiences can engage with stories

The anonymous survey is part of the WA Stories project, which aims to map-out the hidden stories that need to be collected from people that have lived and currently live in Western Australia. By hidden stories we mean lesser-known individual and community stories.

Your answers will help the DLGSC support projects that focus on WA storytelling and truth-telling in the lead up to the state’s Bicentenary and beyond.

The survey’s duration is about five minutes.

Additionally, the Centre for Stories will be holding three roundtable discussions (Monday 16 January, Wednesday 18 January and Friday 20 January) with representatives of a diverse range of organisations within the arts and culture sector. More information about these can be found on the Centre for Stories website.
