A special arrangement for library storytime sessions during the COVID-19 outbreak has been announced by Books Create Australia, the collaboration between the Australian Booksellers Association (ABA), the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), the Australian Publishers Association (APA) and the Australian Society of Authors (ASA).
For the duration of the pandemic, virtual storytimes will be sanctioned by an industry agreement, to enable librarians to read books to children via livestream or a recording.
To read more about the details and conditions of this agreement, please read the statement on the ASA’s website.
A similar agreement has just been made between the Australian Publishers Association (APA), the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) and the National Copyright Unit (NCU) to enable teachers (including teacher librarians) to continue to read stories to students, whether they are learning from the school or at home.
The details and conditions of this agreement are also available on the ASA’s website.
