CBCA 2021 Book of the Year Shortlist

The Children’s Book Council of Australia has announced the shortlist for the 2021 Book of the Year.

Congratulations to Western Australian authors, illustrators and publishers with the following shortlisted titles:

  • Worse Things by Sally Murphy, illustrated by Sarah Davis and published by Walker Books Australia (Book of the Year: Younger Readers)
  • The Stolen Prince of Cloudburst by Jaclyn Moriarty, illustrated by Kelly Canby and published by Allen & Unwin (Book of the Year: Younger Readers)
  • Bindi written by Kirli Saunders, illustrated by Dub Leffler and published by Magabala Books (Book of the Year: Younger Readers)
  • No! Never written by Libby Hathorn and Lisa Hathorn-Jarman, illustrated by Mel Pearce and published by Hachette Australia (Book of the Year: Early Childhood and CBCA Award for New Illustrator)
  • We Love You Magoo by Briony Stewart, published by Penguin Random House Australia (Book of the Year: Early Childhood)
  • Norton and the Bear by Gabriel Evans, published by Berbay Publishing (Picture Book of the Year)
  • How to Make a Bird by Meg McKinlay, illustrated by Matt Ottley and published by Walker Books Australia (Picture book of the Year)
  • Shirley Purdie: My Story, Ngaginybe Jarragbe by Shirley Purdie and published by Magabala Books (CBCA Award for New Illustrator)

The CBCA Book of the Year Awards will be announced on Friday 20 August 2021.
