||In my early years, I enjoyed working as a mentor and carer for people with disabilities and youth "at risk". This challenged my worldview. I Connected with the deep brokenness and fragility of amazing people and saw the determination and brilliance of human character.
For a guy that draws funny little creatures I have a real serious side, I'm emotional and I'm a deep thinker. Cartoons, song writing and poetry have always been a part of my life. In many ways, an escape and a way to make life lighter. There is no way to describe fully the feeling I have when creating, it's a deep peace. I love it.
Through my mid 20's, I worked in schools in various roles with primary students. As a teacher's assistant / mentor, I met teacher and writer, Simon Wicks and with the help of Principal Matthew Hughes, we had our first book published "Fred has Lost his Head". This was for me the start, my eyes were wide open to publishing and the possibilities for me. Simon and I released a second title in the series called, 'Fred Paints Everything Red'. During this time I was invited to work with Paul Moylan to illustrate his Easter book "Why the Lamb", which we still use to share God's love and also support the work of Compassion Australia.
Later, as a School Chaplain, I got a real kick out of using my cartooning to motivate and encourage students. Teaching Life skills programs, mental health hygiene and awareness, through motivational cartooning workshops and lessons.
I am continuing to write and Illustrate books as Lisa and I raise our 7 Children.
Coupling my cartooning skill with charities is a real highlight for me. I have just finished a book for Empart called "India in my Pjs" written by my very own, Lisa Bolt.
Another book that is hot of the press is "Dinner in the den" written by Jeremy Griffiths, which raises funds for the Bolivia Social Project.
