Biography
Liam Blackford is a West Australian lawyer, writer and poet. He is of millennial age. He was born and grew up in suburban Perth. He has lived and worked in Perth, Hong Kong and Shanghai. He writes poetry in English and Chinese. He holds a degree in law and philosophy. He is a member of the LGBT+ community. His poems are written in a fixed form and meter and are concerned with themes of truth and reality, complexity and change, anxiety and rage, and power and control. His debut poetry collection A Gateway Has Opened was published in 2021 by Proverse Hong Kong with the support of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His poems have appeared in Mingled Voices (Proverse Hong Kong), Creatrix (WA Poets) and Tentacle (zine of Hong Kong collective Peel Street Poetry).
