Joanna Morrison is a writer based in Perth, Western Australia.


Joanna Morrison's debut novel, 'The Ghost of Gracie Flynn', was shortlisted in the 2020 TAG Hungerford Award and will be published by Fremantle Press in October 2022. Her short fiction includes 'Primitive Gifts' (Westerly, 2021), 'This old Thing' (Best Prose Piece, Meniscus, April 2018), 'Night Road to Ceduna' (Westerly, 2016) and 'Of the Water' (Shortlisted for the Margaret River Press Short Story prize in 2017; anthologised in 'Joiner Bay and Other Stories' (Margaret River Press, 2017)).

A former journalist, Joanna has worked as a teletext news captioner and a reporter for the Community Newspaper Group the independent 'Fremantle Herald'. She has an MA and a Creative Writing PhD from Murdoch University.
