When he's not working, Jay is usually found in the wild in Perth bookshops or various cafes and coffee shops, writing and making the place look untidy. When he's not writing, Jay is generally fretting about how he should be writing.

Biography

Jay Chesters is an award-winning author of contemporary fiction, interweaving folklore, science fiction and social commentary.

After being variously published as a journalist, Jay began writing stories for his debut collection when the bears lumbered into his imagination back in 2019. Realising the bears wanted a whole book, Jay wisely agreed to their demands.

Jay grew up in England’s home counties, which have a surprising non-zero number of bear sightings, and he’s spent the last 20 years living in a dozen different cities across three continents. Jay now lives in Perth, Western Australia, with his fiancée and two boisterous cats.
