Wilson will be your\nguide on this short journey through an exciting literary genre.\nIn this workshop we will try to answer the question\,\n‘What is travel writing’? In answering that\nquestion we will move from early accounts of religious pilgrimage to tales of exploration after the\ndiscovery of the New World in the fifteenth century\, to the Grand Tour of European aristocrats\, to\nthe greats of twentieth century travel writing.\nWe will consider the importance of the personal opinions of the travel writer. Towards the end of\nthe morning there will be time to complete a short piece of travel writing of your own.
