Voicebox Fremantle: July 2020

27 July @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$6 – $10

Voicebox Fremantle is back.

This will be a live event at the Navy Club, on the corner of High and Pakenham Street, Fremantle. There will be food available and a bar.

COVID precautions will be followed.

This month’s two special guest are:

Bron Bateman—a poet, academic and mother of 9. She has had her work published in journals and anthologies in Australia, the UK and the US. She has won both the Bobbie Cullen Memorial Prize (in 2004) and the Winter Prize for Poetry (in 2017). Her first collection, People from bones (with Kelly Pilgrim) was published by Ragged Raven Press in 2002. Her second collection, Of Memory and Furniture was published in 2020 by Fremantle Press. She is currently in the process of editing her third collection, The Sticking Place.

Priya Kahlon—a Western Australian poet and all round lover of words and the ability of language to take you on a journey to far off places. You can find her work in the Centre for Stories’ anthology Wave after Wave and the collection Once: A selection of short short stories from Night Parrot Press. Tonight she will be reading a mixture of her current works touching on themes of place and purpose and finding stillness in these unusual times.
