Varuna will hold a free disability training sessions in May for editors, publishers and other professionals working in the publishing industry.

The sessions are funded by Create NSW, with the idea of helping the industry to engage more confidently with Deaf and Disabled writers.

A more inclusive working environment begins with understanding ways to engage. This specialised disability equality training is for editors, publishers or for professionals working in the publishing industry who would like to:

  • Engage more confidently with Deaf and Disabled writers
  • Learn more about stereotypes and how to avoid them
  • Create an inclusive publishing environment
  • Explore disability representation in literature

The training will be held online over two sessions (both sessions are required for completion) on 12 May and 19 May from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm AEST (8.00 am to 10.00 am in Western Australia)
