South-West Shorts 2020
1 August @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm$15 – $25
Six original WA plays will be performed for the first time at the fabulous new Margaret River HEART theatre along with a special guest performance by performance poet, Sari Ellen Bennett. For those who can’t get to the live performance the event will also be live streamed.
Artists from Perth’s unBALANCED Productions and Halcyon Playhouse will join Perth director Audrey Poor, Margaret River director Carolyn Forte, Busselton Repertory Club and Esperance Theatre Guild in this annual collaborative event that this year brings together theatre artists from Margaret River, Esperance, Molloy Island, Busselton, Coodanup, Perth, and Manjimup.
South-West Shorts is produced by Edge Performance Writers to give WA writers an opportunity to have their work produced and to connect theatre artists from the regional and metropolitan areas. Six finalists – three from Perth and three from the South-West – were chosen from entries in a competition to create an original short play about life in WA to the theme of ‘Look on the Funny Side’.
The six playwrights will use the performance as part of their script development before submitting their final script for publication in the annual South-West Shorts anthology.
Tickets are available from Margaret River HEART.
