Poetry at Planet Books Northbridge
3 July @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
Don’t miss the chance to celebrate unique local books and the incredibly talented people who were inspired to create them.
Caitlin Maling’s new collection Fish Song explores physical landscapes as well as historical and socio-cultural aspects of place. In this deeply personal work, she travels the coast of Western Australia, writing about what the ocean provides and questions what poetry might offer by way of solace and reconnection in an age of climate change.
Nandi Chinna’s The Future Keepers articulates the relatedness of humans to place, speaking to the gifts we receive from being open to encounters with other species, and the reciprocity that those gifts imply. Her work was written during a bitter and draining battle between activists and the State Government of Western Australia over the future of the Beeliar Wetlands and traverses time and territory, examining intergenerational inheritance, and contemplating what we might leave for future generations
