Love to Read Local @ Mandurah Library: Character and Dialogue with Brooke Dunnell

20 June @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Mandurah Libraries are celebrating Love to Read Local in June with a series of author events and workshops.

Love to Read Local, an initiative of Writing WA, is an annual state-wide campaign showcasing and celebrating Western Australia’s many, many wonderful writers and illustrators, and the books they create.

Workshop Information: Characters and what they say are essential to what makes stories worth reading and writing. Through discussion, examples and activities, this workshop will explore ways in which new, budding, and experienced prose writers can craft characters that will absorb readers, add complexity and drive their narratives forward.

Morning Tea provided.

About the Author: Brooke Dunnell is a writer, mentor, and workshop facilitator. Her short fiction has been widely published, including in the short story collection Female(s and) Dogs, which was a finalist for the 2020 Carmel Bird Digital Literary Award and shortlisted for the 2021 Woollahra Digital Literary Award. The unpublished manuscript for The Glass House was the winner of the 2021 Fogarty Literary Award. Brooke has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Western Australia and lives in Boorloo (Perth) with her husband and two dogs.
