Shaun Tan’s latest book, Tales From The Inner City, in this holiday PD at The Literature Centre.
You will look at different ways to harness this work to engage even the most reluctant writer in creative and critical thinking. Discover the writing tips and tricks Literature Centre staff have learned from some of Australia’s most talented writers and they’ll show how using quality picture books in your classroom will enrich secondary students’ writing.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
- The power of questioning and modelled writing
- The use of thinking scaffolds to develop critical and creative ideas
- Warm ups
- Character development and back stories
- How to include the X factor when plotting a narrative
- Quick tips for writing killer opening lines and dynamic dialogue
