CBCA WA Book Discussion Group 2023

25 January @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Recurring Event Event Series (See All)
Free
ID: CBCA WA logo

An enthusiastic group of readers meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month to discuss a set book by an Australian author. Books chosen for discussion are generally YA titles although the occasional book for Younger Readers is included. In the past a book by an overseas author has also made the list for discussion.

There are several special events throughout the year. Guest authors are invited to talk about recent publications and, following the announcement of the Book of the Year Awards Shortlist, the group meets to review all the shortlisted titles.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Book Discussion Group meetings to improve their knowledge of Australian young adult and children’s literature.

Most sessions are held at Oasis House, Hampden Road, Nedlands, but please note the exceptions below.

Upcoming books to be discussed include:

  • Wednesday 25 January – Unnecessary Drama by Nina Kenwood (11.30 am for lunch at the UWA University Club Cafe, Crawley
  • Wednesday 22 February – Completely Normal (and Other Lies) by Biffy James (6.30 pm at Hampden Hotel, Nedlands)
  • Wednesday 22 March – Growing Up in Flames by Zach Jones (7.00 pm at Oasis House, Hampden Road, Nedlands)
  • Wednesday 26 April – the 2023 CBCA Book of the Year Shortlist will be announced (7.00 pm at Oasis House, Hampden Road, Nedlands)

To see the next books up for discussion, head to the CBCA WA website. If you are interested in joining, please contact Gail Spiers, whose details can found on the book group’s webpage.
