Framework Press invites you and your friends to join Ian Reid for the launch of his new novel, A Thousand Tongues, at Mattie Furphy House in Swanbourne on the afternoon of Sunday 1 September, 3 pm.

About A Thousand Tongues: Released from Dartmoor Prison in 1889, a black man soon breaks back into it. Interned in the same jail in 1917, a brooding conscientious objector seems to seek punishment. On a present-day Australian university campus, a Muslim student is mysteriously murdered.

The suspenseful action of A Thousand Tongues reveals how these enigmas are interlinked. It explores racial and sexual tensions, twists and turns of conscience, the limits of historical investigation, and legacies of guilt and shame.

About Ian Reid: Ian Reid is the author of numerous books – fiction, non-fiction and poetry – and his work has been widely anthologised, awarded prizes, and translated into several languages. His previous historical novels include The End of Longing and That Untravelled World.
