2020 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA): Online

Instead of the ABIAs being a traditional Award Dinner, the 2020 Awards will be a live streaming Virtual Awards Event and the doors are being thrown open to everyone on Wednesday 13th May at 4:00pm AEST.

The longlist was announced on 2 March. Included on the list are books by the following authors and publishers from Western Australia:

  • The Scholar by Dervla McTiernan, published by Harper Collins Publishers (General Fiction Book of the Year)
  • Young Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe, published by Magabala Books (Book of the Year for Younger Children (ages 7-12)
  • Kindred by Kirli Saunders, published by Magabala Books (Small Publishers’ Adult Book of the Year)
  • Baby Business by Jasmine Seymour, published by Magabala Books (Small Publishers’ Children’s Book of the Year)
  • Cooee Mittigar by Jasmine Seymour, Illustrated by Leanne Mulgo Watson, published by  Magabala Books (Small Publishers’ Children’s Book of the Year)
  • Little Bird’s Day by Sally Morgan, Illustrated by Johnny Warrkatja Malibirr, published by Magabala Books (Small Publishers’ Children’s Book of the Year)

The Shortlist, Hall of Fame, Rising Star and Pixie O’ Harris Awards will be released on Tuesday 28 April.
