2020 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA): Online

Instead of the ABIAs being a traditional Award Dinner, the 2020 Awards will be a live streaming Virtual Awards Event and the doors are being thrown open to everyone on Wednesday 13th May at 4:00pm AEST.

The shortlist was announced on 28 April. Included on the list are books by the following authors and publishers from Western Australia:

  • The Scholar by Dervla McTiernan, published by Harper Collins Publishers (General Fiction Book of the Year);
  • Young Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe, published by Magabala Books (Book of the Year for Younger Children (ages 7-12);
  • Kindred by Kirli Saunders, published by Magabala Books (Small Publishers’ Adult Book of the Year);
  • Little Bird’s Day by Sally Morgan, Illustrated by Johnny Warrkatja Malibirr, published by Magabala Books (Small Publishers’ Children’s Book of the Year);
  • Magabala Books (Small Publisher Award).
