The Golden Pen Writing Award 2020

Submit fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, comic, or graphic novel about Planet Earth.

Word limit: 3,000 words.


  • Junior (Primary School students aged 10-12);
  • Middle (High School students aged 12-14);
  • Senior (High School Students aged 15-17).

A winning entrant will be chosen from each category by a panel of judges.

Prizes: Shortlisted entrants from the Senior and Middle categories will be invited to attend a writing masterclass with one of the Scribblers Festival 2020 authors and will receive a $100 Festival bookshop voucher, and the overall winners from these two categories will win a cash prize of $500 each. ‍Shortlisted entrants from the Junior Primary School category will receive a $50 Festival bookshop voucher and the overall winner will win a cash prize of $200. Shortlisted entrants will be announced on the Scribbler’s website, social media, and by email, in April 2020.

Closing date: Tuesday 31 March 2020. The closing date has been extended to Sunday 10 May 2020.
