Scribes Writers ‘Short Takes’ Prose Competition

Submit a short story (fiction or memoir) up to 1,000 words (excluding title) on an open theme.

There are two categories in the competition.

CATEGORY A: Short Story (For the purposes of this competition, a fictional short story does not include Fan Fiction)
CATEGORY B: Memoir (For the purposes of this competition, a memoir is defined as an incident or series of related incidents from the writer’s own life. It is not a mini autobiography or an obituary.)

Entry fee: $7 per entry, per category.

Prizes: 1st – $200; 2nd – $100; Highly Commended and Commended certificates will be issued at the judge’s discretion.

Closing date: Monday 30 September 2019.
