The theme for this competition will be Joy in the Morning. This topic lends itself to poems about discovery, realisation, when joy surprises, morning reflections, waking to a new day, hope for tomorrow, thankfulness, possibilities, the beauty in sunrise, the stillness of dawn, patience through suffering, renewal of strength or purpose, anticipation,rejoicing, contentment, blessedness, healing, delight, wonder.
Word limits: Poems should be single-spaced no longer than 50 lines (excluding title but including line spaces.) Poems which exceed this line length will be disqualified
Entry fee: $7 per poem, or $20 for 3 poems.
Prizes: 1st prize is $300; 2nd prize is $100. 25 poems will be selected to be included in an anthology to be published by PCP.
Closing date: Thursday 30 April 2020.
