In the 90’s, a gig called 'Openmouth' pioneered spoken word and performance poetry in Perth. In the 00's - a gig called 'Cottenmouth' was a hub for Perth’s emerging poets and artists of all sorts from Thomás Ford to Amber Fresh. Now in 2018, Perth Slam's maverick gig-wizard Laundry Man brings you DIRTYMOUTH - something for your heart, your teeth, your feet - a new monthly showcase of live music and spoken word at the Four5Nine Bar.

In March, things kick off with Pakistan Poetry Slam's globe-trotting spoken word legend Zainab Syed, local veteran of the page and stage Scott-Patrick Mitchell, Spoken Word Perth's rising star Saoirse Nash, tunes from Bell's Rapids' Tanaya Harper and rock and roll from inner-city cool kids Trolley Boy.

Come and check out a brand new corner of the poetry scene; an alternate universe where poetry is just as cool as music...
