| Biography | JOHN F HARMAN Author, Novelist, Scriptwriter, Lecturer & Mentor John Harman has written for a living all his working life, first in advertising, then for many years as a journalist on Fleet Street as well as in New York and California. Later he owned a small film company where he wrote hundreds of training and documentary film scripts before going on to write for some of the most popular UK television series - early episodes of The Bill as well as The Sweeney, The Onedin Line and Emmerdale Farm. For the past twenty years John has earned a living as a full-time author, with four major (500-page) crime thrillers published by Headline in the UK along with many non-fiction books and scripts and over a dozen ghost-written books, ranging from romantic fiction to biographies of politicians, businessmen and well-known celebrities. John also works as a lecturer and teacher of creative writing and leads many workshops for government departments and major companies on ‘Leadership and Creativity’, ‘Writing for Influence, Clarity and Impact’ and ‘Presenting in Public’. John has taught at the University of Cambridge Board of Continuing Education in the UK and at the University of California Summer Schools in the US. Here in WA he teaches for, among others, The University of WA; Edith Cowan University; The Fellowship of Australian Writers and The WA State Literature Centre. He is an adjunct senior lecturer in the School of Communication & Contemporary Arts at Edith Cowan University. John is now a citizen of Australia, having been granted permanent residency under a ‘Distinguished Talent Visa’ sponsored by the Australian Society of Authors. His wife, Abigail is a professional photographer and they have five children. |
