Wordbox was launched in May 2006 after the demise of the Nestle competition. It commenced as a writing competition site, but soon included reading activities and festival information. Wordbox's earliest industry supporter was Denise O'Connor from State Library of Queensland.
Wordbox seeks to promote those creative opportunities that support young people's creative development, and links are provided to warn them away from false opportunities. Various authors, both published and amateur, have submitted words of encouragement to YouWrite, and it is hoped that this section will expand in coming years.
