What is an Australian play?

Platform Paper published

What is an Australian play? Have we failed our ethnic writers? is the latest in the quarterly series of Platform Papers published by Currency House. Written by PlayWriting Australia's artistic director, Chris Mead, the paper asks if Australian theatre is failing our newest writers, those first- and second-generation immigrants who speak a language other than English at home. Chris traces the growth through the 1980s that saw a flowering of immigrant writing and indigenous performance and asks where we are today and how we might best move forward.
