Regional Development Programme and Fund

writingWA manages devolved funding from the WA Department of Culture and the Arts for the specific purpose of developing and delivering a Regional Development Programme throughout WA.

This programme encompasses three distinct yet complimentary components:

All components are accessible to applicant groups (although extant commitments do not allow us to consider new Festival funding applications until 2010).

Please note that due to increased demand writingWA has instituted a priority system for funding applications. You will be given priority if:

  • Your organisation is a member of writingWA (membership is not a guarantee of funding)
  • Projects indicate a collaboration in the community. Priority will be given to projects where the writer presents more than one workshop/reading and utilises funding other than that from writingWA. For example, the writer may present at the library on a Thursday evening (Writers In Regional Libraries), in the school on Friday (Alternative funding source), then a workshop with the local writers' group on the Saturday (Country Writers Group Workshops).
  • The writer receives maximum exposure and promotion
  • Travel expenses are minimised and cost effective
